The South Siders are caliente as the season continues to ramp up. After sweeping the Royals this past weekend they traveled up North, where they’ve got two come from behind wins to start the week. Tonight’s game was a pitchers duel from start to finish. Both Lucas Giolito and Brandon Woodruff allowed two earned runs and pitched six innings. Lucas gave up a two run home run to Ben Gamel in the 5th.However, Eloy answered back in the 6th with his own two run piss missile. Then to win the game El Capitan, Jose Abreu drove in Danny Mendick with a 2 out single. Alex Colome earned the save, but not without some drama. Truth is I don’t care if he loaded the bases. He got the save and got us our 6th victory in a row. That’s the only thing that matters.
A lot of good for the Pale Hose in this one. Giolito continues to bounce back with his second straight quality start and earned his first win of the season. Not to mention he racked up 9 strikeouts along the way. Eloy Jimenez continues his fabulous start to the season with another 3 hit effort. That includes a HUGE two run dinger that tied the game. Abreu keeps reminding everyone why he’s still our 3 hole hitter. Who else would you rather have at the plate with 2 outs and a player in scoring position??? Fucking no one is the only acceptable answer here. The bullpen continues to be our most consistent unit. They strung another 3 scoreless innings together, although Cordero and Colome kept it interesting.
It was our 6th win in a row, and that wasn’t even the best thing. What I loved the most was watching the good guys come from behind AGAIN! In years past, even if we were only down 2 runs it’d feel like 10. Those days are long gone, and our team is ready to grind out some wins. Even better we have a ton of pop in the lineup, which results in us being able to answer back quickly. Now if only the MLB can finish the season, so the South Side can get some much deserved playoff baseball this fall.
Nick Madrigal hurt his shoulder sliding into third. Hopefully, our young second baseman isn’t seriously hurt and doesn’t miss too many games. Injuries are starting to pick up for the Sox as well. They recently lost Tim Anderson, and Carlos Rodon to the 10 day injury list. The taxi squad is going to be put to the test as a result.
We won 6 in a row! If you found something ugly, then politely GFY!
