In this regular feature, we will help you acquaint yourself with some of the finest practitioners of the most thankless task in baseball to ever don the “tools of ignorance” for our beloved Chicago Baseball teams. This week we feature Martin Maldonado.
Martin Maldonado is a journeyman catcher who came to the Cubs in July of 2018 in a trade that sent Mike Montgomery to the Royals. He played 4 games, then got traded to Houston for Tony Kemp. He went 0-for-11 in 4 games as a Cub, then started hitting the ball in Houston where, according to Fangraphs, had a lot of success with hitting changeups.
*Hey, you just got back-to-back Hall of Famers. So I mailed one in.
