Steve here, and I’ll be writing about the White Sox here on FULLY KRAUSENED, because Chicago has two big league teams.
But you live north of Madison Street, don’t you? Why aren’t you a Cubs fan?
Well, for one, my dad raised me right (thanks Dad!) and brought me to Comiskey Park as a kid, which got me hooked on those early ’90s Sox teams, with the Big Hurt, Black Jack McDowell, Bo, Robin and more. They were good. Really good.
Then came 2005, and a world championship (which ESPN seems to have selective amnesia about from time to time), and the Sox seemed poised for a run of dominance. It didn’t pan out that way, and we haven’t seen playoff baseball on the South Side since 2008.
Fortunately, that drought appears to be nearing an end, and some of the young elite talent that the Sox front office has been acquiring over the years is arriving at the big league level. With more on the way in 2020, the window of contention appears poised to swing open and should remain that way for the first half of the next decade.
It should be a fun ride on the South Side these next couple years. So grab a fuckin’ Puppers and let’s get at ‘er.
